August 1, 2021, The PoE System Engineering Technical Standard, jointly completed by Fujian Architectural Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd, SHENZHEN UTEPO TECH LTD, Green Information Integration Technical Committee of China Electronic Energy Conservation Technology Association, etc., was approved by China Electronic Energy Conservation Technology Association and scheduled to be officially implemented with the standard number T/DZJN 28-2021.
PoE (Power over Ethernet) is a common method of remote DC power transmission with the help of communication cables, and it is constantly evolving, with power supply equipment (PSE) power increasing from 15 watts to 30 watts, and currently further to 90 watts.
With the rapid development of new services such as WLAN, VoIP, and network video surveillance, a large number of IP terminals appear in people's daily life. These devices are usually numerous, in special locations, with complex wiring and hard to get power supplies. And their implementation and deployment consume a lot of human and material resources, increase the cost of network construction, and prolong the construction time.
PoE technology, which can both transmit data and provide power through a network cable, is being used more and more officially in networking. Also, it has become a low-risk, reliable, and cost-effective application. Currently, the PoE standards (the IEEE 802.3bt, IEEE 802.3at, and IEEE 802.3af) put forward specific requirements on the PoE applications in various scenarios. However, there is no complete technical standard for PoE system engineering in China. In the application of PoE technology, there is a lack of understanding of the standard, the design of engineering solutions, construction, etc.
The release of the standard would bridge the gap in PoE standards in China. After nearly two years of research and development on the PoE System Engineering Technical Standard, the experts met several times to discuss, revise, and finally approved. The standard content is complete, operable, and will produce good social benefits.
